Purpose – Poetry
“Live the Life of Your Dreams: Be brave enough to live the life of your dreams according to your vision and purpose instead of the expectations and opinions of others.”
― Roy T. Bennett, the Light in the Heart
With this inspiring quote, let us get to the beautiful winning entry of the monthly writing competition held by the Poetry Club. This time, with an exceptional theme – purpose.
Congratulations to 2nd year BSc. Psychology with Education student Ananya Shetty for winning the title of ‘Poet of the month’ for January.
Purpose
It’s not written in stone
Nor in concrete
But on the sand near a beach
As the waves crash on the shore
And wipe the words you so dearly wrote
You stand up and write another in its place
It’s a different verse to adorn the shore
A new story that needs to be told
Each word leads to a different part of you
Each time written by a different form of you
But they are not who you are
They just help you stay at the beach
Just long enough to make memories on the way
Long enough till night gives into the day.
Who are you? What’s your purpose?
These two are such intimidating questions that haunt us, especially when we face significant changes in our lives. I believe they are a closely related process – we define our purpose. It is an expression of the person we have become. At the same time, our purpose helps to explore the person we are. Our purpose is continuously evolving, and so are we.
